“Invisible Children is an organization that raises awareness about the 20 year long civil war that has affected Northern Uganda. Three filmmakers went to Uganda and found out about the “night-commuters”; these are groups of children that must walk every night from their homes in far away villages to the closest towns and sleep in overcrowded spaces such as hospitals and bus parks. The reason they must flee their homes every night is because they fear getting kidnapped by the Lord’s Resistance Army (LRA), and being forced to become soldiers and brutally kill friends, family and strangers for this rebel group. Children who escape or are rescued from the LRA have deep psychological, social and physical scars from the time they were forced to be soldiers.”
Challenge: Pray for the children of Northern Uganda for their safety and for their country to achieve a peaceful end to the war. Visit www.invisiblechildren.com to inform yourself on the crisis in Northern Uganda and to see the different ways you can support this organizations effort both financially and by spreading awareness.
